Blake Shell is an artist and a contemporary art curator living in Portland, Oregon. She received a Bachelor of Art from The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, and an MFA in Photography at Savannah College of Art and Design. Her work has been exhibited in venues such as PDX Contemporary Art, the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, and the Institute for New Media in Frankfurt, Germany, as well as alongside video artists Bill Viola, Nam June Paik, and William Wegman.
Shell is The Robert and Mercedes Eichholz Director and Curator of The Art Gym and Belluschi Pavilion at Marylhurst University, providing the artistic direction and leadership of the organization. Her curatorial work has gained regional attention and press in the Pacific Northwest, as well as a national review on Artforum.com’s Critic’s Picks. Shell is also currently a panelist for the Visual Chronicle of Portland, managed by Regional Arts & Culture Council.
